She completed the Culinary program at Humber College, and since then she has been tirelessly promoting Mexican culture and cuisine through her brand Ixiim Toronto, at workshops and culinary events like TacoFest, Soupalicious and the PanAm Games, where she was the only Mexican chef featured.
In 2018 Erika partnered with Istra Avila to found the Mixi Culinary Project.This will be a new kitchen space available to different groups of women that want to prepare their favourite dishes and share them with the public. This will help them to gain experience and generate an income, receive mentorship from a professional chef and promote their traditional food. Erika teaches many different workshops, most especially to children. She is a wonderful instructor, able to keep everyone's attention on the task at hand and yet keep it all very fun, entertaining and interesting.
We are absolutely delighted to help her reach a whole new generation, teaching them traditional and wholesome Mexican dishes from scratch!
